Follow These Steps to Rock Your New Year Resolution
A new year is a new beginning and brings so much hope, as we put behind the past year with a hope that this coming year would bring something good to life. We all make New Year resolutions and we all struggle to stick with them, but that is something that brings more harm than good. We all want to change for good, we all have habits that we want to change, we all want to achieve something in life and we all have goals; everybody has them but the question is, why are some people more successful than others? The answer is; some people are more determined and consistent than other. Following are some of the steps to guide you and help you to rock your New Year resolution and make this year more fulfilling for you.
Setting Realistic Goals
Everybody has a limitation, so be realistic about what do you do really want to achieve. Push yourself, yes, but don't make a commitment to something that you cannot do. Setting unrealistic goals always demotivate you. If you are a reader and you set a goal to read 500 books in a year that sounds very unrealistic even if you read a book a day. Bring it down to a number that is a bit more realistic so that you are not disappointed later.
Think About How Important It Is For You to Achieve Your Goals
Take out a notebook and write it down. Yes, write it down that how important it is for you to achieve that specific goal and what does it mean to you. Like, if you want to quit a bad habit, for example, smoking, write down following questions and answer them in detail
- Why do you want to quit it?
- What good would it bring to you?
- How will it change your life?
- What are the negative impacts of not quitting smoking?
- Are you willing to keep up with the challenges that come along with it?
- Can you make a promise to yourself that you’d be consistent?
These questions will help you to stay focused. If you aren’t clear enough on why you are doing something, then there is a huge possibility that you won’t be able to stick to it either.
Write It and Paste It All Over Your Room
Make small notes and paste it all over your room and doors, the purpose is that you see it all the time. The more you see it, the more likely you will be able to remember your goals and it’ll be easier to stick to them. It’ll make you more determined and more consistent.
Just remember that it’s okay if you fail, don’t give up on your resolution entirely, just because you failed. It’s okay to fail, it’s okay to go astray from your goals, but what matters is how many times you get back up. Don’t give up. We hope that this coming year brings you lot of determination and good will.
